The Flywheel Effect

Jim Rohn on the flywheels

The momentum of the thing kicks in your favor, hurling the flywheel forward, turn after turn … whoosh! … its own heavy weight working for you. You’re pushing no harder than during the first rotation, but the flywheel goes faster and faster. Each turn of the flywheel builds upon work done earlier, compounding your investment of effort. A thousand times faster, then ten thousand, then a hundred thousand. The huge heavy disk flies forward, with almost unstoppable momentum.

I call this The Flywheel Effect. You can see this in everything in life — health, wealth, relationship, knowledge, happiness, habits.

This is the core of what makes compound interest so powerful.

When you focus on a goal & move towards it, without any deviation, you generate momentum.

Every step towards your goal will be easier than your previous steps. This creates positive feedback loops, which motivates you to keep going further.

Ultimately, this leads to a compounding return on your effort – the same amount of effort you put at the beginning of your journey will now generate an exponential amount of return.

That’s the power of the flywheel effect.
