Artist, Detective, and Strategist

Most good designers fall into three categories — artist, detective, and strategist.

Artists pour their souls into their work. They dwell in the abyss of typography, colors, composition, trying to give life to their creation. When they take on a project, no matter how big or small, they give it their all.

Detectives treat every project as a mystery to solve. They despise opinions & speculation. They bring in facts, data points, solid rationale. Users’ needs & problems are their north star.

Strategists understand how the world operates and try to find the perfect sweet spot for the project in the culture. They don’t care about silly praises & design awards. Just tell them did they hit the mark or not.

If you are all three, you get rich.
